Our Engagement Party

Staci and I had a great time hosting our engagement party this past Saturday. Our house was filled with most of the people who are going to be a part of our wedding day, and it was exciting to see family and friends, new and old, interacting and having a good time. Lots of food, drink and music were had by all. Times like this make you really appreciate the people that are in your life.

Meet BK Enemy #1

We were rained out both on Saturday and Sunday, which meant pulling the tarp on and off the field about 10 times in 3 days. I ache everywhere, and on Monday, with winds of 45 MPH, the damn thing almost ate one of my co-workers and nearly ripped my fingers off.

So there are now 4 days to catch up on sleep and let the body recover before our weekend games. And the forecast is clear so far for the weekend. But like any arch-enemy, the tarp and I will meet again.

One Down...

...and 69 to go. P-Nats games, that is. Last night was Opening Night here at the "Pfitz." I definitely had some nerves going into the first "real" game of my baseball career, but things went well, all things considered. Most of the employees showed up, we didn't run out of food, and no animals were harmed. The temps were in the mid-30's, which made for few fans and cold hands. And the P-Nats lost 8-0 (like their MLB affiliate!!). But on the plus side, I survived my first of 70 15-hour days. And the temperatures and scores will get better, eventually. The power of positive thinking!

P-Nats Media Day

I got to enjoy my first major privilege today at Pfitzner Stadium, as the entire front office staff met with the team. Got to talk to a few of them and hang out in the clubhouse. I could barely contain my excitement. Also had the DC media at the stadium and got to watch BP. Almost makes up for the tiring 11-hour day. :)

Opening Day at RFK

Marlins 9, Nats 2. With a capacity home crowd. With our best pitcher on the mound. With a triple and great defensive play by the best player on the team. 125 losses, anyone? My running line this year will be, "How can a team with two guys named Jesus be so bad?" It was still a great day to watch a game. And while sitting in mounds of traffic, we got to see the progress of the new stadium. Hope is on the horizon...
